Monique "Monica" Beaufort (June 30th, 1968 - August 3rd, 2001), was a human woman and the female genetic donor of the Thompson kids.
Summary
Born in Bourges as a member of the Beaufort family, Monica was raised part of her childhood in France. At some point her family packed up and immigrated to the United States, with Monica herself eventually moving to Sanctuary City once reaching adulthood.
An accomplished scientist, Monica was sought out and hired by Ken Thompson at the behest of Karl Fischer. Although initially hesitant, she joined The Collective, and became both a genetic donor to, and lead on the experiment that birthed Orion and Stephanie. Initially, Monica tried to keep herself emotionally distant from the children. However she quickly fell in love, and begun to consider herself their mother. Growing more uncomfortable with the idea of the kids being raised in their current environment, Monica took the kids and managed to flee to Sanctuary City. There, she attempted to lay low while getting in contact with a friend who could covertly transport her and the children to France. Unfortunately, she was quickly found. Enraged, Ken made sure to personally kill her before recovering the children. [1]
Of course, she is unaware of Asteria's existence, considering Asteria was created after she had already passed away.
Notes
- Despite her magical ancestry, Monica wasn't a Meta-Human, nor a Para-Human.
- Monica would make occasional contact with her extended family, particularly her cousin Bertrand and his wife. This created confusion where they became under the impression that she and Ken were married, as Monica shared more info than she should've with limited context.
- Her parents likely passed away a long time ago for non notable reasons.
- Monica was considered beautiful, with her beauty being passed down to her children.
