Nine Witches, Seven Points, turns out Thiton can't count

The Witches of Ystawingun are a coven of nine powerful witches. Originally existing in Arthurian times, the coven was reformed in modern times by Thiton, with the intent of freeing their original leader from imprisonment by the Crystal.

Summary

The nine sorceresses are a recurring element in Arthurian legend with varying depictions. What does not vary, however, is the fact that they possessed great mystical power. Whatever the truth of their exploits, the nine Witches of Ystawingun would eventually fall at the hands of Peredur in the aftermath of the disappearance of Morgan le Fay, with only Thiton and Moronoe surviving the slaughter.

In the 1700s, Thiton would paint Ode to the Mother of the Night, a baroque style painting with the witches as its subject.

The nine witches would remain a group forgotten to history for a millenium, but were eventually revived in modern times by Thiton, who had discovered the fate of Morgan le Fay and had resolved to free her by any means necessary. The modern incarnation, however, is only formed of eight witches, with the ninth spot being reserved for Morgan herself upon her release. This new dynamic is represented through the heptagram, a seven-pointed star, with the group's leader and vessel taking a point within the centre of the sigil.

After the awakening of the new Blood Knight, Thiton summoned the rest of her coven to discuss their next moves.

Some time later, while setting up runes across Sanctuary City, Selene was attacked by a mysterious mage and saved by Omnius, who helped her reach a safe location - also encountering a mysterious individual while in the process of attempting to read her memories. Once she was safe, Selene addressed the coven to inform them that their plan was going ahead as planned.

  • Thiton - A twisted tree topped with goat's horns
  • Ada - A human hand with claws
  • Bridget - A flaming circle with three inner petals
  • Equinox - Two circular objects, one light, one dark, clashing
  • Gabriel - A yellow triskelion
