This article is about the 9 current IsoMatrices. For the original 7 IsoMatrices, see IsoMatrix (Prime Multiverse).

The IsoMatrices (singular: IsoMatrix), are the core, fundamental defining aspects of reality, responsible for representing, defining, and anchoring the concepts they are associated with, as well as any sub-concepts associated with their main concept.

Summary

The IsoMatrices were formed at the dawn of the Multiverse, predating the very existence of reality itself, each directly concept associated with an IsoMatrix did not exist until the IsoMatrix associated with it came into existence - this was also the case for any concept not associated with an IsoMatrix directly, as these concepts are formed through the interactions of the concepts defined by the IsoMatrices. The exact order of when the IsoMatrices were formed is not known, but the Soul IsoMatrix is known to be the "youngest" of them, and the Imaginary IsoMatrix is known to be among the "older" IsoMatrices due to being formed of what remains of the Prima Materia of the Multiverse.

There are several specifically known interactions between IsoMatrices (although, logically, all of reality is formed from their interactions), for example: when Time and Space interact, they create the Space-Time Continuum; when Magic and Imaginary interact, they create Annihilation Events; and when Sentience and Soul interact, they create Dreams.

Properties

By themselves, each of the IsoMatrices is an incredibly powerful object, granting absolute control over the concept they represent, as well as any sub-concepts to their concept. To do this, each IsoMatrix entirely defines what is and isn't part of their concept, and is capable of influencing any concepts not directly associated with an IsoMatrix. IsoMatrices are also able to, within limits, influence concepts associated with other IsoMatrices (for example, individuals can use Magic to manipulate time), but cannot enforce absolute rules on these concepts. IsoMatrices are also unable to directly contradict rules that are laid out by another IsoMatrix (e.g. Time cannot set a single form of Magic across the multiverse, while Magic is unable to change the timeline once it is set).

Should an IsoMatrix be destroyed, the concept it represents and anything associated with it will cease to exist within the Multiverse.

Users

Each IsoMatrix is bound to a specific individual, and cannot be separated from them, the users are as follows:

IsoMatrix Locations and Users
IsoMatrix Purpose Location User
Concept Isaac Meisner
Emotion Phoebe Grayson (Earth-0)
Imaginary Controls the Prima Materia of the Multiverse Imaginary Space Lisa Dawkins (Earth-0)
Magic The Axiom Stephanie Thompson (Earth-0)
Power Sun of Earth-0 Aiden Grayson (Earth-0)
Sentience Center of the Astral Plane Orion Thompson (Earth-0)
Soul Regulates Life, Death, and the core being of individuals Alexis Anderson Alexis Anderson
Space Asteria Thompson (Earth-0)
Time Regulates Time and the Timeline, as well as Stasis, Change, Beginnings, and Ends None Hiyuki Hoyokazi (Earth-0)

The nature of bond between IsoMatrix and user varies from IsoMatrix to IsoMatrix, but all IsoMatrix users possess a certain amount of immunity to the concepts of the other IsoMatrices. Should either the IsoMatrix or the user associated with it be destroyed (or both), they will eventually reform - the method through which this happens varies from IsoMatrix to IsoMatrix.

Previous Iterations

Prime Multiverse

Within the original iteration of the Multiverse, there were 7 IsoMatrices, which were not bound to specific individuals. These 7 IsoMatrices were collected by Overlord, who used their power to destroy and recreate the multiverse before ascending to a higher plane. 6 of the 7 original IsoMatrices were destroyed alongside the Prime Multiverse.

The IsoMatrices of the Prime Multiverse were:

  • Concept
  • Emotion
  • Entropy
  • Power
  • Sentience
  • Space
  • Time

Comics Quest Collections

Within the second iteration of the Multiverse, there were 7 IsoMatrices, which were not bound to specific individuals. 6 of these were created when the multiverse was reformed, while the 7th, Time, was taken from the Prime Multiverse. The Second Overlord attempted to collect these to obtain total dominion over the multiverse, but was stopped thanks to the efforts of the last survivor of the Prime Multiverse and her allies. In this iteration of reality, the only known locations of the IsoMatrices prior to Overlord's quest were: the Time IsoMatrix, which remained in the possession of the last survivor of the Prime Multiverse; the Entropy IsoMatrix, which formed the core of the demonic weapon Wyrmwood before a conflict involving a demon; and the Concept IsoMatrix, which gained sentience and acted according to its own will.

The IsoMatrices of the Second Multiverse were:

  • Concept
  • Emotion
  • Entropy
  • Power
  • Sentience
  • Space
  • Time (carried over from Prime Multiverse)

Mosaic

In the aftermath of the second Overlord crisis, the multiverse was made whole, and was once again reformed, becoming the third iteration of the multiverse. As with the previous iteration, 6 of the 7 IsoMatrices were formed at the beginning of creation, with Time once more being the same one from the Prime Multiverse. As they were before, these IsoMatrices were not bound to any specific individuals, and were scattered across reality. During this iteration of the multiverse, the Emotion IsoMatrix was split in two through mysterious circumstances, while the Time IsoMatrix was handed over from the last survivor of the Prime Multiverse to the third multiverse's Hiyuki Hoyokazi before she allowed herself to be removed from existence. In one corner of existence, an alien conqueror used the Entropy IsoMatrix to create a mighty empire, while another alien being sought the Sentience IsoMatrix to gain mastery over magic.

The IsoMatrices of the Third Multiverse were:

  • Concept
  • Emotion
  • Entropy
  • Power
  • Sentience
  • Space
  • Time (carried over from Prime Multiverse)

Simulacrum 1.0

Within the first Simulacrum iteration of the multiverse, there were 10 IsoMatrices, which were bound to specific individuals, it is unknown if the previous pattern of all IsoMatrices save the Time IsoMatrix being reformed held over for this iteration (or any prior between it and the third iteration) held for this iteration of the multiverse. It was during this iteration of the multiverse that the Soul IsoMatrix was created by a mysterious individual as part of a larger plan to address the cycles of the multiverse. Alongside the current 9 IsoMatrices, a 10th IsoMatrix existed in this iteration, the Structure IsoMatrix, which was later absorbed into the Space IsoMatrix during the beginning of the current iteration of the multiverse.

The IsoMatrices of the Simulacrum 1.0 Multiverse were:

  • Concept
  • Emotion
  • Imaginary
  • Magic
  • Power
  • Sentience
  • Space
  • Structure
  • Time

Notes

  • The IsoMatrices bare many similarities of to the Infinity Gems of Marvel Comics fame.
  • The original number of IsoMatrices, 7, is based on the importance of the number 7 within Pythagorean numerology.
    • The later numbers, 10 and 9, are not based on similar concepts.
    • Despite this, however, the number 9 represents "Completeness" within the Baháʼí Faith.
