Samael Thaumiel
Samael Michael Thaumiel (formerly Durante Gray) is a Thulcandran Chronarch from the planet of Thulcandra - an alternate-future version of Earth. He is the leader of House Thaumiel within the planet's aristocratic hierarchy, and is the founder of Thulcandra. He is also known by his formal title of Mechanicus by all Thulcandrans. He is the younger brother of Rafael Thaumiel. He is also the older "brother" of his genetic clone Gabriel Thaumiel. Furthermore, he is the cousin of Urielle Thaumiel.
Summary
Mechanicus was born as Durante Gray on an alternate Earth in the 21st century. After a cosmic disaster left the Earth in tatters, he and the rest of humanity were exposed to primordial energies from beyond - which seemingly saved them.
He and the rest of humanity were altered by the event, becoming stronger, faster and most importantly - smarter; much smarter than before. Durante especially developed incredible levels of intelligence - leading him to create the first Thulcandran technologies.
After helping to stabilize the planet after the cosmic cataclysm - Earth was renamed Thulcandra; with humans being renamed Thulcandrans.
Soon after the cosmic event, Durante would go on to guide Thulcandrans towards a world of peace and stability - founding Thulcandran society and establishing the core principles and elements of their civilization.
Using his newfound connection to the primordial energies that saved him and his people - Durante would later build machines which could briefly tap into energies borne from other primordial forces - both vast and ancient.
Now gaining a greater understanding of the nature of the space-time continuum, Durante would then establish the Chronarch Order in conjunction with his older sister, Amelia.
Having ascended to become Thulcandrans in tune with the nature of space-time, they retroactively designated themselves the first members of House Thaumiel - the "Twins of God".
Now being called Samael and Rafael Thaumiel - the two Chronarchs would go on to shape Thulcandran society through the Chronarch Order - surviving countless conflicts both within and beyond Thulcandra.
During this time, Samael would gain his title of Mechanicus.
Eventually however, the Thulcandrans would be faced with a powerful threat - beyond their initial capabilities. In their haste, they soon left their native universe, taking their local solar system with them.
Soon they would find a new universe to hide in - until a means of countering their greatest threat would finally appear.
Powers & Abilities
Thulcandran Physiology
Thulcandrans are evolved human beings with millions of years of artificial selection guiding their development. As such, they have access to supernatural powers and abilities far beyond that of normal humans.
Supernatural Intelligence
The defining trait of Thulcandrans. They are several orders of magnitude more intelligent than human beings. Capable of parallel processing and other cognitive abilities that far exceed those of human beings.
Thulcandrans also have much more neurally dense brains than humans do - allowing for the storing and encoding of information to a much greater degree.
Gene Manipulation | "Regeneration"
A process created by Samael's older sister - Rafael. Regeneration is the ability of a Thulcandran to psionically manipulate their own DNA. They have a 3rd DNA strand that's designed to maintain continuity between their alterations for this reason.
When significantly damaged, Thulcandrans can "regenerate" into a different appearance - releasing massive quantities of energy as they do so. A Thulcandran can regenerate 12 times before either requiring an intervention from Chronarchs - or passing away.
Supernatural Physical Characteristics
Thulcandrans are much stronger, faster, more agile and more durable than human beings are. They also have supernatural senses which humans do not posses.
As a result of their evolved physiology, Thulcandrans are highly resistant to radiation and other forms of conventional danger.
Thulcandrans can also live for a very long time - thousands of years before they show any signs of aging from their prime.
Psionics
Thulcandrans, due to their prolonged exposure to cosmic energies in their past - have developed a genetic form of psionics. Although genetic in nature, the individual psionic strength of a Thulcandran is far below that of most psionic Meta-Humans.
Chronarch Physiology
Chonarchs are Thulcandrans who have been exposed to the primordial energies that saved their society - to a much greater degree. A further evolution of a basic Thulcandran - Chronarchs are the elite of Thulcandran society, and dictate all aspects of the civilization.
They also possess abilities far beyond that of a normal Thulcandran.
Temporal Characteristics
Chronarchs have a 4th strand of DNA, temporally engineered and designed to give him a high degree of resistance to time manipulation. This grants Chronarchs the ability to perceive time in a rudimentary sense.
Chronarcs are also able to recognize localized instances of time manipulation - such as temporal loops and slow-downs. They are also able to negate the effects of these temporal manipulations on themselves.
Items & Equipment
Trans-Temporal Carrier (TTC)
The hallmark achievement of dimensional engineering by Chronarch Society. TTCs are large, higher-dimensional constructs with three-dimensional "shells" or casings. They're complex machines that double as vehicles and are capable of moving through any point in physical space.
They are also capable of movement through time - to a degree. Although TTCs are more hesitant to move through time - due to the intervention of unforeseen forces.

- Samael's surname comes from the Qliphoth.
- Samael's older sister, Rafael - isn't known well by the Thulcandran public at large.
- Samael is hesitant to say anything about her as well.
- Samael's "brother", Gabriel - is a perfect clone of him, created as part of an experiment with their creation chambers.
- Samael calls himself "Virgil" on Earth - as a reference to the famous Roman poet.
- He seems himself as guiding the planet - putting it on a better path.
