Phoebe Amanda Grayson is a Meta-Human living in Paradise City. She is the triplet sister of both Aiden Grayson and Jonah Grayson. Much like her brothers, she is also a vigilante known as Hyperia - one of the strongest Meta-Humans on Earth; known for her international presence, unlike Mosaic or Scalar.

"That's not how we do things here! We're supposed to be better than that! Above it too!"

Summary

Prior History

Phoebe had a life similar to that of her brothers' - with the only deviation being her decision to pursue a law degree. Much like her brothers, Phoebe's innate abilities granted her an exceptional mind, quickly allowing her to ace her studies and become a lawyer in her early 20s.

Unlike her brothers, Phoebe also runs an entirely separate business - Eros Incorporated.[1] a company that her father and extended family have large stakes in. Eros is one of the largest clothes designing and manufacturing companies on the planet, demanding most of Phoebe's attention to properly run.

Phoebe also has a close relationship to Lisa Dawkins, one of her closest friends and confidants. They are both also aware of each other's identities as the vigilantes Hyperia and Speedrunner.

While not in Sanctuary City nearly as much as Mosaic, Hyperia still occasionally appears in the city - capable of moving fast enough to phase through the energy barrier protecting it.

As Hyperia, Phoebe has contested with Meta-Humans such as Titanomachia, eventually disarming her and showing her a path towards rehabilitation of her image as a reformed supervillain.[2]

She has subsequently begun helping Mosaic and Scalar track down the rest of Chiral's old facilities in a big to protect the city from any further threats that may exist.

Current Activity

Phoebe is currently the CEO of Eros Incorporated, and continues her work as a vigilante in her home city of Paradise City - as well as abroad, through international work as well.

Powers & Abilities

Emotion Matrix

As the Incarnation of the Emotion IsoMatrix - Phoebe has the innate ability to convert her emotions into raw energy and power. Through this ability, she can generate massive quantities of energy - which can be utilized in different ways.

After years of training with her abilities, Phoebe has learned how to manifest her emotional powers in the form of an energized ring construct. The ring is merely a focal point of her abilities, and has no unique functions on its own.

Phoebe can take the emotional energy she generates and convert it into any other form of energy, whether kinetic or electromagnetic.

She can also absorb ambient energy from her surroundings, converting it into emotional energy, and then back into an amplified form of energy as well - a process she does with natural sunlight, which exponentially boosts her powers.

Mosaic DNA

Hyperia Costume

Much like her brothers, Phoebe has a unique genome that can re-sequence itself in a variety of ways. By working in conjunction with her Emotion Matrix, Phoebe's Mosaic DNA allows her to rapidly evolve her body's physiological characteristics.

This energy conversion effect leads to a series of rapid metabolic changes that occur in Phoebe's body - granting her vast abilities including:

  • Immense Physical Characteristics
    • Immense Strength
    • Immense Speed
    • Immense Durability
    • Immense Reflexes
    • Immense Stamina
  • Heightened Senses
  • Vision Abilities
    • Heat Vision
    • X-Ray Vision
    • Thermal Vision
    • Microscopic Vision
    • Telescopic Vision
  • Flight
  • Super Breath
    • Arctic Breath
  • Supernatural Balance
  • Photographic Memory
  • Rapid Information Processing

Empathic Mimicry

Due to the combination of her Emotion Matrix and Mosaic DNA, Phoebe is capable of a specific variant of mimicry, limited to emotional connections.

A strong emotional bond with a person will allow Phoebe's Mosaic DNA to permanently mimic their abilities - so long as the emotional connection is strong and genuine.

Her only known instance of this is:

  • Psionics
    • Gained from Orion Thompson (after Phoebe began to fall for him).

Notes

  • Phoebe has a strong sense of moral standing, refusing to engage in any degree of manipulation or strongarming of any kind.
    • Part of this stems from her sheer dislike of her cousin - who she sees as morally bankrupt and lacking in principles.
  • While originally taking a liking to Orion Thompson due to his physical attractiveness, Phoebe later broke up with him a few months after dating.
    • In her own words, Orion just "wasn't my type after all", but she won't explain to anyone any further than that.
  • Phoebe is infamous for her dislike of sugary and processed foods, showing a disdain for most sugary sweets and candies.
    • This is due to the health complications a friend of hers developed over the course of her life - complications that Phoebe avoided due to her powers, despite eating candy regularly as a child.
    • Phoebe constantly tries to convince her friend Lisa to switch to healthy meals for this reason.
  • Phoebe is a skilled cook, and is far better than both of her triplet brothers.
  • Phoebe's middle name, "Amanda", comes from her late paternal grandmother - Amanda Grayson.
  • Phoebe actually wore glasses as a kid at first - due to her inability to control the depth perception and light warping of her eyes; a side effect of her powers.
    • She kept this habit by instead wearing sunglasses most of the time - even indoors or at night, as her powers allow her to easily compensate for the effects.
  • Phoebe wears a professional brunette wig in her civilian identity.
    • This is to make it harder to figure out her identity as Hyperia - as she wears her natural blonde hair at its full length when operating as a vigilante in most cases.
  • Despite arguably being the wealthiest of the triplets - Phoebe refrains from spending money unless absolutely necessary.
    • She was given more control over the family's finances by her father, Silas, for this reason.
  • Phoebe technically owns a law firm that she can practice in - Grayson & Soule LLP., however she has not practiced formally in years due to Eros Incorporated taking most of her attention.
    • Instead, her law partner and fellow attorney Deliah Soule - operates in her place.
      • Deliah is a friend she made in college and went to law school with, before initially starting a firm together.
  • Phoebe has a substantial distrust of Lisa Lovegate, a practicing attorney at a competing firm.
    • This is due to rumors about Lovegate's alleged inappropriate behavior and promiscuity - used to gain her top position at the law firm.
      • This undermines every core principle that Phoebe has - leading to her strong dislike of the attorney.
