			When she was 5, Joséphe discovered Guillaume alone on the streets, with no recollection of who he was and where he came from. After attempting to find his parents, Joséphe brought him back to the orphanage, becoming his "older sister".

			After an incident involving Guillaume being bullied for his hair not matching the others, Joséphe died her hair to match his from her natural black, declaring that "Of course our hair matches, we're siblings after all!", and has maintained this story ever since.

			Always having a penchant for invention, Joséphe was one of the many who attempted to find a solution to the slow sinking of Fortuna, with her attempts at solutions focusing primarily on attempting to raise the island or amplifying her own power to hold off the water. During this period, Joséphe fell into the [[Cavern Below Fortuna\|cavern below Fortuna]], discovering the ancient murals and happening upon [[Focalors]]. During her conversation with the demon, Joséphe discovered that the island had been marked to drown, with the [[Soul\|Souls]] of all those who lived there designated as belonging to the demon. Thanks to her contributions, she was elevated to the position of ''Magistros tōn offikiōn'' of Fortuna, a role that had not been filled for several centuries, granting her all-but autocratic control of the island nation.

Since ascending, the Magistrissa has earnt a reputation of being somewhat of a diva, often hosting extravagant parties and events, as well as causing scenes at many major court trials, almost as if she treats them as a performance. Despite this reputation, however, the nation of Fortuna has enjoyed a period of relative prosperity under her rule, and as such her personality is treated as an endearing trait by her people.

Through the public funds established by her, The Magistrissa is single largest patron of the arts in Fortuna.
